Samsung has introduced two smartphone models for Bangladeshi consumers. Just like neighboring India, Bangladesh is becoming an attractive market for mobile phone companies. According to a report of The Daily Star, Kanghyun Lee, managing director of Samsung Electronics Dhaka branch was present at the launching ceremony.
Mr. Lee said, "Built on the Android 2.1 Éclair OS, the Galaxy S has a 5.0 megapixel AF camera with a built-in-memory of 16 gigabyte. Its MicroSD is expandable up to 32GB.
This phone promises a future beyond experience for you that empowers you to live smarter, work better and play harder."

Right now, Nokia is the market leader in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi consumers are yet to get the taste of Apple iPhone as no operator sells iPhone here. So, it is a good opportunity for other mobile phone manufacturers like Samsung to capitalize until iPhone hits the Bangladeshi market.

The Indian telecom industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and also the second largest market in the world in terms of subscribers. Young people make up a significant portion of the Indian subscriber base. Hence, companies like Nokia, Samsung, LG are very much interested in establishing themselves in the Indian market. Recently, the Union budget 2010 has been announced but there is nothing special for the Indian telecom sector. The budget proposed to extend the benefit of exemption of “Special Additional Duty of Customs” of four percents on parts imported by mobile handset manufacturers. The budget also proposed a tax concession for mobile accessory manufacturers. It also proposed to remove the 24% import duty on raw materials for batteries, charger and other parts and accessories. These tax exemptions will further bring down the price of mobile phone sets and accessories in India.

Another great news for the Indian mobile phone users is that they would be able to access high speed Internet and data transfer through 3G technology and broadband wireless access after September 2010. Indian telecom department set September as the timeline. Within this time, bidders will be allowed to use their allotted airwaves for commercial operation. On February 25, 2010, Indian government issued a notice inviting bids from private telecom operators to participate in the auction of 3G airwaves. Government will allow three private operators.

Samsung Corby Plus and Pro Price in India

Considering the potential of mobile phone market in India, Samsung has launched two Corby models: Corby Plus and Corby Pro. The prices are Rs. 10,500 and Rs. 13,900 respectively. Both these models come with QWERTY keypads. They are also ideal for Internet browsing. It is clear that the target market is the young generation as the users will be able to access Facebook, Twitter and MySpace very easily through the handsets. The price is surely not affordable to most consumers in India. In India, most people prefer to buy sub Rs. 3,000 handsets. Still, the market of touch screen phones is growing rapidly here.
Nokia is the market leader. Samsung wants to change that condition and they feel that they must target both ends of the spectrum. One thing is very interesting: iPhone is yet to become that much popular in the Indian market. One notable thing about Samsung mobile phones is that the company promotes their products aggressively.
