Joanna Lumley Deserves to be Recognized by Nepal Government

(This entry was originally uploaded on May 2009.)

Joanna Lumley is a British actress but she has worked tirelessly for the rights of Gurkha soldiers. It is because of her dedicated campaigning that in the end, the British government agreed to allow the Gurkha veterans settle in the UK. As a result, those soldiers and their families can now come and live in the country. This will be a good opportunity for many families because Nepal is a very poor country. More than that I feel that the actress has helped to increase the image of Nepal with her campaign. Because of her campaign, many people in England came to know about the heroism of these soldiers.

It is time that Nepalese government gives an award to Joanna Lumley and thanks her properly. This way, other celebrities would get encouraged. Here, I like to state that late Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand did similar thing for the country. He was the first man to climb Mount Everest.
