Argentina and Brazil Match Live Updates: 5 September 2009

Football fans are now very much excited with the upcoming world cup qualifying game between Argentina and Brazil on Saturday (5 September 2009). Millions of fans are waiting to watch the match live on television. Whenever Brazil and Argentina face each other, it becomes a big occasion in the football world. This time the match is more important because both Brazil and Argentina are trying to clinch their place in the world cup 2010.

Brazil has almost secured their spot as they lead the point table with 27 points, 5 points ahead of Argentina who are currently in the fourth position of the table. Another victory for Brazil would definitely take them on the verge of getting into next year’s world cup football in South Africa. On the other hand, Argentina, who lost 2 of their last 2 games, can hardly afford to suffer another defeat. In fact, another defeat would take Argentina very close to miss out on a top four position, and if so, they have to go through a play-off with the fourth-placed team of North American zone.

So, there are a lot of things at stake around the match. A number of television channels are going to telecast the match live for their viewers. Here, I am giving a list of TV channels that will bring the live action of the match for the football fans:

Super Sports 5

Super Sports is an Africa-based sports network which has a number of tv channels dedicated to different sports. The Argentina vs Brazil game will be live telecast on Super Sports 5, and thus, football fans from Africa would be bale to watch this game very easily. This is a free-to-air channel. So, you do not need to spend any money to get the service.

The problem is that Super Sports could not yet make a strong presence in Asia, even though the channel has been very popular within a short period of time in South Asia. Here, the main problem is that many countries do not allow Super Sports to telecast their programs because of the objections from other pay-channels. As Super Sports is a free-to-air channel, people naturally turn to this channel, and thus, other pay-channels suffer. However, the good thing is that Super Sports has a number of tv channels and cover wide-range of sports, and this is where lies the advantage of Super Sports.

Sky Sports 1

Sky Sports 1 TV channel will show the match live between two arch rivals: Brazil and Argentina- in Britain and some other European counties. You perhaps know that Sky Sports is one of the most popular sports channel in Europe and the channel has millions of subscribers. Naturally, many people in Europe would be bale to watch the match on Sky Sports 1 channel.

The surprising (also disappointing) thing is that I did not find any TV Channel which is going to telecast the match live in South Asia where people get divided in two groups whenever Brazil and Argentina play against each other. I think, FIFA should have taken this matter into account because FIFA is trying to increase the popularity of the game all across the world, and Asia, specially South Asia, could be a lucrative market for football in the years to come. Football is always one of the top sports in this region and in the recent past, craze of football has been fueled up in South Asia mainly because of English Premier League.

Anyway, if any of you know which channel would telecast the match in South Asia, you can share it in the comment section with us and our readers.
