Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer Qurbaan is in trouble

‘Qurbaan,’ the upcoming movie of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, is in trouble. Swish Films, a Melbourne based movie production company, was jointly producing the movie with Dharma Productions. It failed to pay salary of the production crew. As a result, workers and contractors of the movie took legal action against the company. Swish Films was producing the movie in Philadelphia. Brisbane Times reports:

The film, Qurbaan, is described by its director, Rensil D'Silva, as ''a romantic thriller set against the backdrop of global terrorism'', and features Bollywood megastars Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. Swish Films produced the Bollywood film Main Aur Mrs Khanna, also starring Kapoor, in Melbourne last year.

In March, the Philadelphia Daily News reported that hundreds of workers, including a stuntman, caterers and the Philadelphia Boys Choir had been left unpaid and bewildered when $US500,000 ($596,000) in cheques allegedly bounced.

Swish Films is one of the subsidiaries of the Swish Group. The parent company and its subsidiary were placed in voluntary administration this week. Cary Stynes, Managing Director, Swish Group did not say anything about the issue.
