Wimax in Bangladesh thanks to Augere Qubee

It was a historic moment indeed for Internet technology in Bangladesh. Just 3 hours ago, Augere Wireless Broadband Bangladesh Ltd started its Wimax sercie in Bangladesh by introducing Qubee Wimad service. At the same time, the company has also inaugurated Qubee ‘flagship store’ in Gulshan, Dhaka. I got the invitation to attend the program but I was some sick and could not go there. However, I sent my photographer Abdul Aziz Liton and he recorded the entire ceremony and also took the pictures and did some video. There was a press release in Bangla and I have translated it in English that you can find a little later in this entry.

This Wimax facility is indeed a milestone in the history of ICT sector of Bangladesh. We have been dying to get fast  wireless Internet connection at affordable price. I would not say that the 2 Qubee packages that I could find are affordable to middle class people like me but at the same time, I know very well that the price of Wimax package would depend on the price of Internet Bandwidth provided by BTCL. I really wish that BTRC takes a decisive step to lower the bandwidth price to $100 per mbps in Bangladesh. Then, I am sure that the price of Wimax facility will decrease drastically.
Coming back to the launching ceremony of today, I am giving you here the names of the  Augere’s High officials who were present today:
Russel T Ahmed. Chief Marketing officer. Augere
Jerry Mobbs. CEO Augere
Syed Farhad Ahmed. Director. Augere
N. H Chowdhury. Director. Augere

Now, I am giving a part of the Press Release (translated from Bangla):
Augere is now in Bangladesh opening up QUBEE and flagship center
Augere Wireless Broadband Bangladesh Limited (ABL) brought the WiMax Internet service in Bangladesh. On October 21, 2009, the company started its own WiMax brand Qubee in Bangladesh. On that same days, Augere also started its “Qubee Flagship Store.”
Qubee will provide reliable, high-speed wireless Internet service to both regular customers and business enterprises at a competitive price. For a long time, Augere has been working on to make Internet easily available to users in any part of the world. With the installation of superior quality infrastructure, Qubee will give users the “True Internet Experience.”
With an aim to bring positive changes in people’s lives, Qubee started its remarkable journey in Bangladesh. The brand is devoted to open up the endless door of possibilities through the Internet to the people of Bangladesh. High speed Internet;
Consistent service; and True Internet Experience are the three major features of Qubee Internet service.
Internet coverage:
Initially, Qubee will cover Gulshan, Banani, Baridhara, Mirpur and Uttara residential and commercial area. Soon, the Qubee Internet service will cover entire Bangladesh. Qubee has already giving out various attractive service packages for interested residential and enterprise customers.

when the price falls below 800 taka per month AND if there is no bandwidth limit, AND if the speed is good, then people would buy it.

  8. Hi qubee!!! This is not a good service really. The price is very very high and funny really. This is not the way to reach mass people, I guess wimax is for rich people only.

  9. 512 Kbps is good speed. But, how many of us will be willing to pay that much for that. Europe couldn't make use of this state-of-the-art technology. It looks like Bangladesh will be no exception.

  20. exactly .. why the hell is there a bandwidth limit ?? ..The internet i use has no nadwidth limit .. and i only pay around 1200 .. well the speed is not high .. but i certainly download way more thn 6 gb ... this wimax seems to be a joke ... my advice .. provide sppeds like 64 kb and 128 kb .. so prices are more affordable ... and get the bandwidth limit out ... this current offer really isnt suitable for the middle class .. let alone around bangladesh ... imagine rural people paying 3400 tk a month ... their computers will probably will crash at tht speed .. hahaha

  24. Price should be much lower... and there must not be any download limit... this download limit made the line useless... even if i have to pay 300 tk for 512kbps with tht download limit... i won't use this connection.

  25. we are very happy that wimex has began thier journey in Bangladesh...but the price i s really very high...:(
As we all know that we belong to a developing country of tried world, most people ll not b able to pay the price:( mostly the student ll b dissapointed and deprived...:(
so the price should be low....otherwise I think nobony gonna appriceate this..:(

I hope authority would take step thinking of this:)

  27. What noone's getting is the fact that Grameen is better than Qubee... Grameen provides me with 28 kilobytes per second which if you double, is better than Qubee's 64 kiloBYTEs per second... Notice that its 512kb kiloBIT in their sites and everywhere.. Divide it by 8, you got the actual speed... Which is a disappointed 64 kilobytes per second. Which oh so honestly wont change my life. What's more disappointing is they put a cap on it. 6 GB.. wtf? Honestly, what are these guys aiming at? Offices? You can get a deal with GP for offices too, just hook 4 superfragalicious modems and use a LAN to stream it out... Or just be simple and ask a Broadband company.
What are you trying to sell us, Qubee? Your grandmother riding a bicycle?(Grameenphone is granma just walking) ... This is absolutely ridicilous, Im going to post this everywhere I can... Wtf are marketers taught nowadays? Cow shit? dog shit? Seriously... SPEND A LITTLE BIT MONEY INSTEAD OF STEALING OURS!, Heck I use Grameenphone in Noakhali even... Dont spam anywhere using this.

  29. Qubee pricing really sucks...why there is a download capacity...Wimax is suppose to be cheap....its better to use broad band servise or grameen internet service with unlimited internet connection...Qubee pricing strategy really SUCKS Big time....QUBEE Change ur pricing Strategy...pricing strategy is really really only....

  30. tk 3400 for 512kbps????download capacity limited to 6gb??....huhh....crap.I use 256 kbps unlimited bandwidth 24 hr connection and pay tk 1000.Soooo friggin disappointed with Wimax....they should have taken survey of the internet packages the other ISP(s) are providing out there (other than grameenphone and citicell) before offering the packages. How on earth do they expect ordinary people to get their bullshit package?....If they seriously want to do business they should offer 512 kbps 24hr unlimited usage for tk 800-1000.And by the way in countries like India 2 mbps connection can be had for RS.999...So wy cant we get 1mbps for 1000 bucks..Its still the same old story then.....Freaking slow internet speed, extremely high costs,....Digital bangladesh er progression er ki holo tahole?..shamanno internet cost er e jodi ei obosta hoi bar bar...No matter how advanced the tech gets we are still stuck with kbps...DUDES SERIOUSLY>>>kbps??wimax??we are not even using a mere % of bandwidth capability of a 10 year old data transmission device...Wimax toh duur er kotha...naam ei khali..USA,Korea,etc er kotha toh baad e dilam..they get 50-100 mbps now a days.!!!!

  34. Qubee should consider offering packages which are more liberal to the consumers in bangladesh. The current packages are overpriced and should be reduced. They should also increase the download limit by 1 gb.At this pricing rate consumers will probably stick with dial-up or broadband services provided by their own ISP. Hopefully both qubee and banglalion will compensate at this intial stage of wimax in bangladesh for sales maximization.

    ReplyDelete
  35. what a misuse of 4G technology!!!! greatly enough we will use a network 50Mbps(or more) for a mere 256 or 512 kbps!!! everyone speaks about the digital Bangladesh.... thats how we are digitalized.!!. What is more funny is the pricing! they are even no where near the current price of internet packages available by the ISP providers... the other thing is that the download limit... a connection of 512kbps without any download limit by the ISP provider costs nearly 1500 or less a month... whereas the Qubee offers a 15GB download limit for 2750tk... thats a double price along with a download limt... i think it is not going to attract the consumers...... if they want to attract the consumers they should provide the packages with a lower cost than the current providers.... to me, they should provide a 256kbps unlimited download by 1000. and the 512kbps unlimited download 1400...Qubee must think to maximize the no of its consumers....

    ReplyDelete
  40. wel the pricing is over the roof concidaring the state of wimax in this country and also about the knowledge of wimax. So if the preice is shed to a resonable demand, then only people will only be intarested to get it for their usage, and yes you can definetly put some pore options and packages also.

i got a qubee connection(student connection).first 7 days joshilla!!!!than jst like the mobile phone company!!!speed is going down and down.AND nowwww there is no connection for last 5 days.the excuse is server problem.I carried out an investigation(I am in that department) and found out that the employees are actually not upto that standard to handle the technology or they know very less about the technology.this is the problem of the higher officials who selected the employees.they should remember this is not some govt job that mama chacha dhorei life par hoe jabe.they should have taken a good care of this.
