Chennai Super Kings in Semi Final of IPL 2010

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is the third cricket team that secured their place in the semi-final of IPL 2010. They are taking the third position in the IPL point table. They have got 14 points from 14 matches.

Chennai Super Kings moved into the semi-final round in their last match against Kings XI Punjab. They defeated Kings XI Punjab by 6 wickets with 2 balls remaining at hand. Thanks to skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s heroic effort, CSK was able to secure their place in the next round. It was an exciting match. They snatched the victory in a must-win game.

CSK required 29 runs to win the match in last two overs against Punjab. However, Mahendra Singh Dhoni played an aggressive innings. His fierce 25 runs took CSK in the top four teams in the third edition of IPL. It also proved that he is one of the best finishers in the game.

It was a big scoring game. Both of the teams scored almost 200 runs. Chennai Super Kings won the toss and chose to field first. Kings XI Punjab scored 192 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Shaun Marsh played well and scored unbeaten 88 runs but it did not help his team to get a convincing victory.

Chennai Super Kings made poor start. They lost three wickets early within 89 runs. Suresh Raina and Subramaniam Badrinath played well and they respectively scored 46 and 53 runs. They made 62 runs partnership in third wicket stand. MS Dhoni remained not out till the end. He scored 54 off 29 balls including 5 boundaries and 2 sixes.
