National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is the largest power generation company in India. Founded on November 7, 10975, NTPC is Indian public sector company and listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange. Indian government holds 84.5% stake in the company. On October 19, 2009, Indian government divested stake of the company. The NTPC has a current generating capacity of 31134 MW with 15 coal based and 7 gas based station located all over India. The company aims to reach a production goal of 75,000 MW by 2017. NTPC’s core business consists of engineering, construction and operation of power generating plants and providing consultancy to power utilities in India and in other countries.
