News reports said that two days before the opening of the bids for the new IPL team, Praful Patel’s personal secretary, Champa Bharadwaj, forwarded an email to Shashi Tharoor which contained documents featuring details of the franchisee valuations of the IPL teams. Earlier, these documents were received by Praful Patel’s daughter, Poorna Patel. The mails were forwarded to her by IPL CEO Sundar Raman. After the news, Sundar Raman told reporters he had no idea about this matter. On the contrary, Poorna Patel told reporters that she forwarded the mails as per instruction of Sundar Raman.
News reports are saying that Laila Mallya, daughter of Vijay Mallya and Poorna Patel were closely involved in the bidding process for the two new IPL team. Laila Mallya is the lady who walked away with documents from IPL chairman Lalit Modi’s hotel suite in Four Seasons Hotel in Parel few minutes before tax officials raided the place. Laila,26, is the daughter of Vijay Mallya’s ex-wife, Rekha Mallya. Laila Mallya worked for Lalit Modi and her father, Vijay Mallya is the owner of the Royal Challengers Bangalore IPL. However, Vijay Mallya said that his daughter works for Lalit Modi but he has no connection with her.
