Acharya Mahapragya passed away at the age of 90

Acharya Mahapragya, the tenth Acharya of Jain Swetembar Terapanth Samaj Shree Acharya Mahapragya passed away on May 9, 2010. He was ninety years old. Acharya Mahapragya is the is the superme head of Jain Swetembar Terapanth group. He was born on June 14, 1920 to Tola ram Choraria and Baluji at the village of Tamkor in the Jhunjhunu district. He was called Nathmal by his family. His father died when he was two and half months old. Her mother always took great care of her. From his early age, he was very interested in studying but he did not receive any formal education as there was no school in Tamkor. He died at Sardar Shar of Rajasthan. The 10th Acharya Mahapragya have been promoting non-violence and lead Ahimsa Yatra movement. He walked 100,000 km on foot and went to more than 10,000 villages and preached people about harmony and peace. He walked all over India. Prior to him it was Acharya Tulsi who also traveled by foot and Acharya Mahapragya continued it.

In the 1970s, he established Preksha meditation system. He is also the head of the Jain Vishva Bharati University. Indian television regularly broadcast his discourses.

  1. Indeed its a great loss to the human kind let alone the Jain Terapanth Sect. One who reads his thoughts, always gets a new perception. After Gita's Lord Krishna, it was Acharya Mahapragya who really understood the principles of Spiritualism and Nature. (I dont get any benefits from these comments. What i am writing are based on the experiences.)

  3. I am at a loss for words as are indians and all over the world. He was the Arihant of panchma era. (pop) and we are very thankful to him. He gave human kind without any race that debt which is unable to give him back for sending samni ji to all over the world for preaching the spirituals and the law of nature. This could not have been possible without his efforts. We can pay him homage by following the path of mahavira and his principles. savay jeeeva khamantu. We can only pray to his great soul for peace. Although he is not here in body his soul will always be with us. We continue to bow our heads to him.

    Every soul has to depart the body one day, what matters is their contribution to humanity

    Its really a hard moment for all human kind. we have lost a great leader of ahimsa and peace. Gurudev Acharya shir is not physically available, but his preches, knowledge, ideology will be present in our behaviour, in our heart forever. we should pay homage to him by following his way of peace and ahimsa.

  8. Gurudev’s sudden demise is a huge loss for the world n especially the Terapanth Samaj. A great personality who thrived preaching Non- Violence for almost 9 Decades and was also a part of 2 Millenniums and 2 Centuries . Our deepest condolences to Yug Pradhan , Preksha Praneta Acharya Shri Mahapragyaji.
