Aishwarya Rai Bachchan: The real hero of Raavan

It is pop quiz time. Who is the hero of Raavan? Yes, you would say, Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram. The answer is wrong. It is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Interestingly, Abhishek Bachchan and Vikram themselves admitted that Aishwarya Bachchan is the real hero of the movie.

First and foremost, she had to do everything twice. Mani Ratnam wanted to make the movie in Tamil and Hindi and Aishwarya Rai acted in both versions and delivered dialogues in two languages.

The going even gets tougher for Aishwarya Rai for she had to do all this in the middle of a thick jungle, daring leeches, snakes, thick mud and swamp.

A big portion of the shooting of Raavan took place in dense forest where even the sun light would not enter. The crew would have to shoot at 3 a.m. at night. It was very tiring.

Moreover, the jungle was infested with poisonous snakes. In order to protect the crew from snakes Mani Ratnam hired a local snake catcher to fend off the snakes.

During one of the shooting, Aishwarya Rai started to bleed from her leg as she was attacked by leeches. Mani Ratnam then ordered everyone to carry salt.

Even Aishwarya Rai could not handle all the pressure. While shooting one sequence in the marshland, the actors had to be splashed with muds. Everybody got the shot right but when Aishwarya’s turn came she could not give the shot. The strong stench made her feel very uncomfortable.

Later Mani created an artificial marshland in a swimming pool to complete the shot.

Now, you can see who is the real hero of Raavan.

  1. It is definitely without any doubt Aishwarya Rai.

  2. Aishwarya rai is an incredible actress and I think this praise is accurate. I can understand as well that she will not get everything right, it just shows she is human.
