Karunya University was created with an aim to nurture professionals and leaders good academic background with strong character who would serve humanity. The Karunya Institute of Technology started as a private self-financing engineering college on October 4, 1986. After eighteen years, in 2004, the institution had been given the status of University for it academic excellence by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India. It was then renamed to Karunya University under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Currently, in its 23rd year of service the university mainly focuses on Engineering and Technology. At present, Karunya is a co-educational, fully residential, Technological university providing holistic education for the overall development of the students.
