Meghalaya is small state in north-eastern India. In Sanskrit, “Meghalaya” means “The Abode of Clouds.” It is a hilly region located in the eastern part of India which is about 300 km long and 100 km wide. The state has a total area of about 8,700 sq miles. It is bounded by Assam on the north and by Bangladesh on the south.

Shillong is the capital of the state. It is also known as the Scotland of the East. It is also the center of learning the North Eastern region.

There are many good schools and colleges in Shillong. The Indian Ministry of Human Resource Development opened the seventh Indian Institute of Management in the region which has been named Rajiv Gandhi Indian Institute of Management. The institution started admission from 2008. Another medical college NEIGHRIHMS has been opened in Shilong.
