Pakistan and South Africa will face each other in UAE in October and November this year. For the first time, Abu Dhabi and Dubai will host test match, and thus, becoming the third test venue in UAE after Sharjah. There will be one T20, 5 ODI and 2 test matches on the tour.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the schedule of the series which is actually a home series for Pakistan. It was supposed to take place in Pakistan, but due to the security concerns of the foreign teams, Pakistan has been playing their home series in neutral venues.
No international cricket took place in Pakistan since the deadly terror attack on Sri Lankan national team in Lahore in March 2009. In the subsequent development of the incident, Pakistan lost the joint hosting rights of World Cup Cricket 2011.
In April, Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) came to an understanding that the series would take place on neutral venue. Then UAE cricket board came forward to host the matches in two venues: Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi and Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
Abu Dhabi and Dubai hosted ODI and T20 matches in the past, but the two stadiums are going to become test venues in November. Since the Lahore attack, Pakistan played against West Indies, Australia and New Zealand in these two venues. Pakistan is due to face Australia and England in England this summer and carries the host’s tag in both the series.
Playing test matches on neutral venues is nothing new to Pakistan. They played against Australia in Sri Lanka and Sharjah, UAE in 2002.
Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, is delighted that the series is going to take place, though on neutral venue.
Mr. Butt said to media, “This series will provide great entertainment for cricket fans of both countries. PCB and CSA have worked hard to bring this event about and we are very excited to be returning to the facilities in UAE and hope it's a great series.”
Here is the schedule of the series:

United Arab Emirates (UAE) has always been the ‘second home’ for Pakistan cricket team. The country has many cricket fans who follow Pakistan team in international cricket. So, hosting Pakistan has always been profitable for UAE cricket board and it also provides international exposure to the country’s cricket. Thanks to huge fan following of Pakistan team in the country, Sharjah emerged as a well-known venue for international cricket in the past, though UAE is not yet a test playing country.
Its Amazing for Pakistan Cricket and followers finally they could see Pakistani team in action @ UAE

ReplyDeleteI would like to see more cricket in UAE rather than English grounds where there is no suitable weather for cricket and most importantly English people never appropriate Pakistani players as they did propaganda against our team players.Shame on ECB.(nothing proved but players are still banned)

ReplyDeleteMarc - In T20 format, all international teams look up to Pakistan. Who will teach Pakistan to Play???? SA??? who got kicked out of T20 worldcup because Pakistanis beat the hell outta them? Pakistan Is Number.1 in T20 rankings. so stop dreaming, that SA can teach Pakistan how to play in T20 Intl. Although Pakistan lost, but they are still Number.1 and SA :) wayyyyyyy downnnnnnnn...:p
ReplyDeletePakistan have list the first one but no worries inshaAllah they will win the rest. Koi Baat nahi Haar jeet to hoti rehti hai. But I'd rather see them play in UAE. England didn't treat Pakistan well, they accused them of match fixing Pakistan didnt do match fixing and the three players are suspended for no reason!! All will be revealed on the 30th October and hopefully Muhammad aamir will be joining the Pak team on the third ODI inshaAllah. God bless the Pakistan cricket team
ReplyDeleteThere are 2 t2o's .. not only 1 ..
