Sholay’s “Sambha” Mac Mohan dies at 71

Mac Mohan, who immortalized the role of “Sambha” in Ramesh Sippy’s superhit Sholay, died at the age of 71 at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. The talented actor, known for his unique hairstyle, has been suffering from cancer for a long time. His daughter told reporters that he had a tumor in his right lung.

Mac Mohan is survived by his wife Mini, daughter Vinati and son Vikrant. He is also the maternal uncle of popular Bollywood actress, Raveena Tandon. Raveena was also present at his home after his body came from the hospital.

Mac Mohan first appeared in Haqeeqat in 1964. In his illustrious acting career, Mac Mohan appeared in more than 200 movies. He mostly played dark characters. His major movies include Zanjeer, Majboor, Rafoo Chakkar, Don, Shaan and Satte Pe Satta. He last appeared in Journey Bombay to Goa: Laughter Unlimited.
