Swarnim Gujarat starts from today. Today the residents of Gujarat will chant “Jay Jay Garavi Gujarat, Jay Jay Swarnim Gujarat, and Vande Mataram.” Every year, on May 1, 2010, the residents of Gujarat celebrate the Swarnim Gujrata. This year, celebration is special because they are going to celebrate the golden Jubilee. Citizens from all over Gujarat have come forward to celebrate the day. It will start from Friday.
Officials of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, Ahmedabad, the capital of Gujarat are working hard to make “Swarnim Gujarat” a success. AMC is going to place a large LCD screens at five places including Joggers’ Park (Navrangpura), Kankaria, Municipal Market (CG Road), Vastrapur Lake, and Vijay Chawk (Bapunagar). Asit Vora, chairman of AMC’s standing committee told reporters that they are also considering to install LCD screens in few other places. The LCD screens can be viewed from both sides. It will show the Gujarat State Foundation Golden Jubilee Celebration that would take place at Sardar Patel Stadium at Navrangpura. Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation allowed free entry at the Kankaria Lake Front on May 1, 2010 as part Swarnim Gujarat Celebration.
Famous Bollywood actor, Amitabh Bachchan will be present at the ceremony and would unveil Gujarat’s Golden Jubilee celebration. An ad film featuring Mr. Bachchan will be showcased to promote Gujarat as Global tourist destination.
