Alexander Kolarov Determined to Join Real Madrid

Lazio left back Alexander Kolarov is now all set to join Real Madrid this Summer. The Serbian international has also revealed that Lazio would allow him to move to the Spanish giants.

Jose Mourinho has revealed his desire to sign Kolarov after joining Real Madrid as the new manager. The Portuguese manager tried to land the defender when he was Inter Milan boss, but failed in his first attempt. This time, it seems he would be bale to land Kolarov at the Bernabéu as the player himself is determined to make this dream move.

Premier League club Manchester City was also keen to acquire the service of Alexander Kolarov. City was even ready to spend £15million for the defender who has made 13 appearances for Serbia. With Kolarov eagerly waiting to join Real Madrid, Manchester City now can turn their attention to someone else.

Real Madrid would be happy to know that Lazio would let the player move to Spain.

‘I hope for the best. Recently, the club president, Claudio Lotito, promised me that he would let me leave for Real Madrid,’ said Kolarov.

Alexander Kolarov joined Lazio in 2007 in a move from OFK Beograd. The 24-year-old is well-known for his long-range shots, crosses and set-pieces. A speedy left back, Kolarov has good attacking intent. Because of his similarity to former Brazilian star Roberto Carlos, who also played for Real Madrid with fame, Alexander Kolarov is called Serbian Roberto Carlos.

Mourinho could consider Kolarov as a replacement of Chelsea left back Ashley Cole. Initially, the manager was interested to bring in Cole, but is now keen to sign the Serbian.
