Aston Villa Wants James Milner to Stay Another Season

Manchester City has not given up on their desire to acquire the service of Aston Villa midfielder James Milner. City has already had a £20 bid rejected for the player and there were reports suggesting that they were planning to make an improved bid for the England international.
Following an impressive season, Milner has attracted interests from a number of clubs including Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United. However, it seems City is ahead of their Premier League rivals in the race to sign the holding midfielder.
Now, reports out in the media that Aston Villa might ask Milner to stay for one more season before moving to City next season. Villa did the same with their former captain Gareth Barry.
However, Manchester City is yet to meet Villa’s £30 million asking price for the player. Given Milner’s recent form and versatility as a midfielder, Villa is now looking to make some quick cash in, and thus, bolstering their transfer budget. Milner was instrumental behind Aston Villa’s finish in the top six in Premier League last season.
So, Villa manager Martin O’Neill would like to have his most prized asset for another season so that he can make another attempt to clinch a Champions League spot next season.
