Fabio Capello Puzzled over Three Lions Performance

England coach Fabio Capello knows that anything less than a win over Slovenia in their last group match would show his team the exit door. He also knows it very well that a small margin victory against Slovenia may secure them a place in the knockout stage, but not as a Group C champion. So, there is a possibility England may face Germany in the Round of 16.

What Capello does not know, however, is the reason behind such shaky performances of his players who were so dominating in the qualification. After last night’s goalless draw against minnows Algeria, the Italian has no explanation of England’s performance. After the match, Capello admitted that his high-profile players missed passes and could not break down Algeria’s resolute defense. He is puzzled over the way English players performed in the first two matches.

Fabio Capello said to the media, "We missed a lot of passes, when we got close to the box, the proximity to shoot and make through passes for the other players, we missed everything.

I don't want to talk about individual players - Rooney didn't play like Rooney but that is not the problem.

This is the team which played good games in qualification but it is not so good like a team at the moment.

I don't know if it's pressure or we're not in a good moment. We lost too many balls, it's not the same team I know."

However, Fabio Capello, like all the coaches, hopes that his players would get their rhythm back and perform at their best against Slovenia and qualify for the next round.
