Joe Cole: Tottenham Wants Him a Lot

With Manchester United backing out from their pursuit of signing former Chelsea winger Joe Cole, Tottenham Hotspur, who earlier seemed to have given up on the England international, is all set to revive their interest to land the 28-year-old at the White Hart Lane in the Summer transfer window. However, Arsenal still remains an interested suitor of the player.

Chelsea released Joe Cole recently as they could not match with his weekly wage demand of £110,000, a hike from £80,000 which he was receiving at Stamford Bridge. If it was materialized, this wage hike would have put him among the top few earners of Chelsea.

However, it seems less likely that Arsenal would break their wage structure to match his demand. So, their North London rivals Tottenham seems to be in pole position in the race of securing his service. Joe Cole was also linked with Manchester United and Manchester City, but both the clubs are no more interested in him.

At Tottenham, Joe Cole would reunite with his former West Ham boss Harry Redknapp who handed him his Premier League debut in 1998. In 2003, the midfielder moved to Chelsea away from West Ham for a £6.5 million fee.

Joe Cole is currently with England team in World Cup and has said he would not talk to any club until after the end of the tournament.

He has scored 10 goals in 55 caps for England national team and was arguably England’s best performer in 2006 World Cup.
