Liverpool to Sell Javier Mascherano to Barcelona, Not to Inter Milan

Premier League club Liverpool has no intention to sell Argentine midfielder Javier Mascherano to Inter Milan who recently appointed former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez as their new manager. Liverpool would rather let Mascherano move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

Rafael Benitez, who parted way with Liverpool after the end of the last season, is interested to sign the Argentina international. However, it is believed that Rafa’s strained relation with the Liverpool officials would here come into effect and Liverpool would not like to let Mascherano reunite with Benitez at Inter Milan.

Meanwhile, Barcelona is ready to pay £25 million (some say £30 million) for the current Argentina captain. The investment would be bankrolled by the selling of £25 million-rated midfielder Yaya Toure to Manchester City.

Manchester City is trying to bring in Yaya Toure in what would unite him with his brother Kolo Toure at the Eastlands. At Barcelona, Yaya Toure has recently been out of favor and did not get enough first team football last season. City would most probably place him in the starting eleven from the very beginning.

Mascherano is not the only Liverpool player who could leave Anfield in the Summer. A number of players are now interested to leave the club considering the club’s financial crisis and believing that the club would not be able to bring in new players who can make serious bid for silverware.
