Nissan Micra unveiled in India : Ranbir Kapoor will endorse

On June 8, 2010, Nissan Motor India Limited unveiled Nissan Micra, the first car of Nissan produced in India. The Nissan Micra has been produced at the Nissan manufacturing plant in Chennai. The car was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show 2010.

Popular Bollywood actor, Ranbir Kapoor, had been named official brand ambassador of Micra. For the next three years, Ranbir Kapoor would be the official brand ambassador of Micra. From June 10, 2010, Nissan will launch a multimedia campaign.

On the occasion, Ranbir said that he had always admired cars like the Nissan GTR and Nissan 370Z. He said that the Micra is in a different level and he is looking forward to his collaboration with Nissan.

Kiminobu Tokuyama, MD and CEO of Nissan Motor India Private Ltd., “With the launch of the new Nissan Micra next month, Nissan will begin an exciting journey in India aiming to provide Indian customers with a full range of products and services. We are confident that Ranbir would act as a perfect catalyst to communicate our brand attributes and also enthrall the Indian customers bringing them alive through his persona and charm.”

Initially, Micra will be available with 1.2 litre three-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum capability of 75 bhp. Nissan Micra will be available in four variants- XE, XE+, XL and XV.

The Nissan Micra XE would cost Rs. 3,75,000. It would come with following features- Drive computer, AC, Electronic power steering,Tilt adjustable steering, Driver airbag.

The Nissan Micra XL costs Rs. 4,25,000. It comes with rear wiper and washer, tachometer, power windows (all), central locking remote keyless entry, four speaker audio system.

Nissan Micra XV would cost Rs. 4,65,000. It comes with electrically adjustable door mirror, automatic climate control, push button ignition and security alarm, front dual airbags ABS, EBD and brake assist front fog lamps.

The bookings of Micra started from May 25, 2010 and already it received 400 bookings. Nation wide sales of Micra will start from about mid-July 2010.

Mr. Tokuyama said that his company is planning to roll out 80,000 units of Micra in the current fiscal year and some of them will be exported. The company will export components worth $10 million this year which will be further increased to $20 million in 2011 and $40 million in 2012
