The exam has been conducted to admit students in the undergraduate courses offered by OUAT.

The Orissa University Of Agriculture And Technology (OUAT) came into existence on August 24, 1962. After Independence, development of the agriculture sector in order to make the country self-sufficient received highest importance. The then Indian government felt that the best way to build up an efficient agriculture production is to build up a coordinate system of agricultural education, research and extension that would help the farmers of the Orissa region by meeting their unique needs.

At that time, the University Education Commission was appointed to review the higher agricultural education in India. The commission suggested to build autonomous rural universities.

In 1955, the first Joint Indo-American Team recommended that agricultural universities should get necessary aid from the central government for further development and ensure autonomy and operation.

Because of these recommendations, Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) came into being. It was the second agricultural university in the country. Under the USAID programme, OUAT developed linkages with the University of Missouri and Mississipi.

Currently, OUAT has eight constituent colleges and separate wing for Research, Extension Education and Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.
