Headquartered in SAS Nagar Mohali, Chandigarh, the Punjab School Education Board came into existence in 1969. The board was created under an Act of Legislation in 1969 which was amended in 1987, 2000, and 2005. The board was created to prescribe books and work on creating curriculums taught in schools. It also conducts teacher training and administration of scholarship.
The state of Punjab is located in northwest India. The state borders with Pakistani province of Punjab to the west, Jammu and Kashmir to the north, Himachal Pradesh to the northeast, Chandigarh to the east, Haryana to the south and southeast and Rajasthan the southwest.
The state occupies a total area of 50,362 square kilometers. Chandigarh is the capital of Punjab which is administered as a Union Territory for it also serves as the capital of Haryana.
Major cities of Punjab include- Mohali, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bathinda, Patiala and Jalandhar.
