Regular Upsets Becoming the Major Attraction of World Cup Football 2010

Just before the start of World Cup Football 2010, Spain was considered to be the hot favorite according to the media. Portugal was another favorite. Italy, England, France and Germany are power-houses of European football. These 6 countries have disappointed all their fans so far.
World Cup 2010 has been full of upsets in the first week. England played two matches and drew both of them- first against USA and then, last night against Algeria. So, unless they can beat Slovenia in the last match, England will not go in the second round.
France (Runners Up of the last world cup) is perhaps already out of the tournament, almost. They drew the first match and then the lost the second. Even if they can win their last match against South Africa, they can go out of the event if in the other match of the group, Uruguay and Mexico share a point.
Spain lost their first match against Switzerland 1-0. It was perhaps the biggest shock of the tournament so far.
Germany started their campaign off to a flying start by demolishing Australia 4-0 in their first match. That win created the impact in the minds of millions of people that Germany is the hot favorite this time. However, just yesterday, Germany lost to Serbia by 1-0.
Italy is the reigning champion (they won World Cup 2006 title). Paraguay caused a huge upset with a draw against Italy 1-1.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal is the 3rd ranked team in World Football according FIFA ranking. All they could manage in the first match was a 0-0 draw with Ivory Coast.
Enough of upsets. Some teams could play according to their fame. Argentina’s name should be come in the top of this list. They first defeated Nigeria 1-0 and then thrashed Greece by 4-1. Netherlands have also won both of their matches and have advanced to the second round. Another favorite Brazil also won their first match.
There is strong possibility that 2-3 hot favorite teams could face early exit in this world cup.
