Arsenal Coach Arsene Wenger avoids Sandro Rosel over Fabregas Future?

Barcelona President Sandro Rosel went to South Africa with the hope of talking to Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger about the future of Fabregas. According to an exclusive report of the Daily Mirror, it seems that Wenger avoided meeting Rosel.
While all the Spanish players are busy right now celebrating the World Cup Championship in South Africa, Barcelona president Sandro Rosel is there with his own mission to secure Cesc Fabregas moving from Arsenal to the Catalan club. Wenger was in South Africa to cover the world cup for a French TV station.
Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis also went to South Africa and his visit there perhaps indicated that most probably he and Wenger would meet Rosel to talk about potential price of Cesc Fabregas.
If the report of Daily Mirror becomes true then it will indicate that Wenger is adamant to keep his young captain and will not agree to sell for any price. The financial condition of Arsenal is now healthy and the club is under no pressure to sell any player to get some cash.
Sandro Rosel and other Barcelona high officials would feel disappointed with this outcome. However, they have no one but to blame themselves. They started a media circus over Fabregas and instead of coming up with a good transfer offer, they just tried to focus that Fabregas had Barca DNA and they wanted him back.

  1. that's the Daily Mirror - not the Daily Mail. Let's hope it's true.

You forgot to mention in your superb piece the spanish giants also tasked all their top players with reporting daily on how they would all like to see cesc return to the giants of spanish football, and like you cleverly write its only themselves to blame, good luck cesc this season in London

  3. Hmm... all made up Stories. Wenger was already in SA, Gazidis is from SA & Rosell was flying out to support the Spanish.

WOW, dude you must be a fickle supporter if you hate your teams captain and potentially best player because of what?? Cesc did nothing but have a sit down with Arsene Wenger about his future.

The media, through increasingly regurgitated quotations and idle speculation has attempted to make a story out of nothing.. Fabregas was never in doubt to captain Arsenal next year.

His future after that however is still in the balance. If you Mr 'anonymous' actually believe that Cesc would stay in London for his entire career, you are horribly mistaken. The best outcome for the club will be to do what Mr Wenger has consistently done in the past, that is; hold onto Cesc until he has played a season in his prime, or at least reaches a consistent best, then offload him for maximum return.

This would be in 4 years at the age of 27/28... can we hold onto Cesc for this long? Not likely. Would we like to? Of course.

The only way to improve our chances of maintaining our young gamebreaker is to make a firm impression in the transfer market and to next season show that we have the goods to go the whole way, domestically and in Europe.
