Asamoah Gyan: Moving to a Bigger Club Looks Imminent?

It is not a secret that many players get sudden stardom thanks to their performance in a World Cup. Ghanaian striker Asamoah Gyan is one of the latest examples of this fact. The 24-year-old Stade Rennes forward was relatively an unknown player, except in Ghana and among his club fans, before the start of the World Cup Football 2010.

Thanks to his impressive display for Ghana in the World Cup, Asamoah Gyan has now got into media limelight and a number of European clubs are interested to secure his service.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is reportedly considering Gyan as a replacement for his Spanish striker Fernando Torres whose Liverpool future is now shrouded in uncertainty. Gyan scored 3 goals in 5 matches in the World Cup and helped Ghana to reach the quarter final.

Reports available in the media also reveal that Turkish club Fenerbahce has recently made a €12 million bid for Asamoah Gyan, but the offer did not match Rennes’ reported €20 million valuation of the player.

It is pretty much understandable that Rennes does not want to lose Gyan who has been pretty much influential in the club’s performance since his move from Udinese in 2008. He played 47 league matches and scored 14 goals so far for Rennes.

It is true that Asamoah Gyan did not have star status before the World Cup, but his quality and talent were always promising. In fact, he attracted attention from Manchester United, Arsenal and AC Milan in 2007 because of his impressive performance for Udinese.

Asamoah Gyan is now on vacation after finishing his international duty. He would talk to Rennes officials about his future after returning from vacation. The Ghanaian star is reportedly interested to move to English Premier League.

Overall, it is pretty much clear that Asamoah Gyan’s move to a big club this summer seems about to happen.
