IITR online registration schedule get from website

The Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee published notifications for online registration schedule into various undergraduate courses that would be offered in the academic year 2010.

The online registration will start from July 22, 2010.

The Indian Institute of Technologies (IITs) are a group of fifteen higher-education institutions in India offering various technological courses and conducting research in the field of technology.

IIT is one the most prominent higher educational institutions in India. The parliament of India declared IITs as Institutes of National Importance. The IITs are autonomous institutions. The first IIT was established in Kharagpur in 1951. This was followed by Mumbai (1958), Chennai (1959), Kanpur (1959), Delhi (1961), Guwahati (1994), Roorkee (2001), Ropar (2008), Bhubaneswar (2008), Gandhinagar (2008), Hyderabad (2008), Patna (2008), Jodhpur (2008), Indore (2009) and Mandi (2009).

Initially, Indian government received funds to set up the institutions. The IITs received funds from UNESCO, Germany, the United States, Japan and the Soviet Union. The institutions are linked with each other through a common IIT Council that oversees their administration.

The IITs have a common admission exam at the Undergraduate level known as the Joint Entrance Examination which is popularly known as IIT-JEE. Each year, the institutions admit around 8,000 students in various courses. Admission at the Postgraduate level is done on the basis of GATE, JMET, JAM and CEED.
