Joe Cole Going Where?

Former Chelsea left winger Joe Cole could not yet decide on his club future. The 28-year-old England international has attracted many European clubs in the Summer since the expiration of his Chelsea contract.

Initially, Manchester City, Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur were interested to sign the free agent. Later on, Inter Milan also joined the race. However, it is pretty much clear that Inter Milan and Manchester United are no longer interested in him, considering his more than £100,000 weekly wage demand.

While it was clear that only Arsenal and Tottenham were in the race to sign the former West Ham United player, Liverpool has now intervened in the scene.

Liverpool’s newly appointed manager Roy Hodgson is now keen to sign Joe Cole, mainly because of his free agent status. Liverpool is now in financial crisis and can not spend a lot to sign a player of his quality and experience by splashing £10 to £15 million. However, it is not yet known if Liverpool is ready to meet his wage demand.

Overall, it seems Joe Cole’s future is now shrouded in uncertainty. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would not break his wage structure to meet his demand. Tottenham and Liverpool are also less likely to accept his wage demand.

The only team who could deal with his demand is Manchester City who has already signed Spanish winger David Silva from Valencia. So, it seems less likely that City would attempt to sign another winger in Joe Cole, but given the bizarre nature of City’s recent spending there is a slight possibility they could still consider signing Joe Cole by handing him his desired salary.
