Kamal Haasan: Golden Jubilee in acting career celebrated

The name Kamal Haasan is not unknown to any Indian movie goer. The actor appeared as a child artist in 1959 and then went on to become one of the finest actors of Indian cinema.

On the eve of celebrating his Golden Jubilee in acting career, the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF) organized a three-day festival that took place at the Siri Fort auditorium in New Delhi on July 2, 2010. The festival was inaugurated by Ambika Soni, Minister of Information and Broadcasting.

The 55-year old actor appeared wearing a pinstripe black suit, whit shirt and blue dotted tie. He went to Italy as the guest of honor of another film festival on his career and work “Retrospective of Kamal Haasan Films.”

Dressed in a pinstripe black suit, white shirt and blue dotted tie, the 55-year-old was in the capital, back from Italy, as the guest of honour of the "Retrospective of Kamal Haasan Films". The three-day long gala opened with Hey Ram.

Some of the best movies of Kamal Haasan would be screened at the festival including Nayagan, Thevar Magan, and Hey Ram.

Throughout his illustrious career, Kamal Haasan acted, wrote scripts and produced several movies but he directed only two movies- Hey Ram and Virumandi.

While talking at the festival, Kamal Haasan said that he would direct more movies. He also said that there are few scripts that he is now working on.

There are many actors who suggested Kamal Haasan to direct a movie and guide them and help them in their career and he said that he would like to help them all.

Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan is now in acting. When asked if he would direct her daughter he said that it depended on them.
