Manchester City Completes Yaya Toure Signing for £28m

Manchester City has at last signed Yaya Toure from Barcelona for a transfer fee of £28 million. Toure has become the third summer signing for Manchester City who has been in a spending spree this summer. They have already signed David Silva and Jerome Boateng in their bid to strengthen their squad for the next season.

Over the last one week, it looked Yaya’s arrival at the Eastlands was just a matter of time. Recently, he went through a medical test in Spain before putting pen on paper.

Yaya Toure would now join his brother Kolo at Manchester City. Kolo Toure joined City last summer in a move away from Arsenal and is now the captain at Eastlands. Yaya was also linked with some other clubs, but City was always ahead of others in the race to secure the Ivorian’s service.

Yaya Toure joined Barcelona in 2007 from Monaco and played a key role in the recent success of the Catalan side including the Champions League triumph in 2009.

However, Yaya lost the favor of Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola last season as he was vastly reduced to substitute appearances, while defensive midfielder Sergio Busquets was the regular starter.

With the signing of Yaya Toure, Manchester City’s summer spending has already surpasses £60 million mark. Still, they are heavily linked with Aston Villa midfielder James Milner.
