Old Spice creating New Buzz on Internet

“Old Spice” is the new buzz word on Internet. The Old Spice viral videos featuring Isaiah Mustafa bare-chested wearing a towel are a super hit on You Tube generating 16.3 million views as on July 16, 2010.

In February 2010, Isaiah Mustafa, a former NFL wide receiver, featured in Old Spice ad “The Man Your Man Could Smell like” which became very popular and generated millions of hits.

Last week, Mustafa appeared in a series of videos responding to messages posted by fans via Yahoo, Facebook, and Twitter. The videos were quite hilarious.

Some of individuals are "W. Spencer on Twitter " and "Rose from Yahoo." Even famous Hollywood celebrities such as Ellen DeGeneres, Demi Moore, and actress Alyssa Milano posted questions.

Wieden+Kennedy, a Portland, Oregon, based ad firm created the viral videos. The ideas for the videos came from Iain Tait, the global interactive director of the agency. A team of 35 people worked to make the videos.

The first batch of videos were filmed on July 12, 2010 and released on July 13th. Eventually, it went on to a real time-process with Mustafa instantly answering to queries submitted by individuals.

Within July 14, 2010, Mustafa appeared in 187 videos. On an average, he shot fifty videos per day.

During the three-day shooting “Digital Community managers” remained with the Internet all the time while three writers sat at a table with laptops and co-wrote the responses and grabbed props from a table nearby according to various situations. A fourth writer directed Mustafa.
