Nokia is going to offer entry-level dual-SIM handsets in India

After Samsung, Finnish mobile giant, Nokia is going to launch entry-level dual-SIM phones- Nokia C1-00 and Nokia C2-100, in India. The C1-00 will be priced at Rs.1,700 while the C2-100 will be priced at Rs.2,500.

V Ramnath, Director, Operator Business, Nokia India said, “Globally, C1 and C2, dual SIM mobile from Nokia, are already available. In India we'll launch our dual SIM device in this quarter,” said V Ramnath, director, operator business, Nokia India.

Currently, dual-SIM phones are very much popular in India and local companies like Lava, Spice, Micromax, Luminous are making dual-SIM handsets. Nokia has not yet decided whether to produce these dual-SIM handsets in India or abroad. Nokia has its facility in Chennai.

The Nokia C1-00 measures 107mm x 45mm x 15 mm and weighs 72.9 g. It is available in red and medium blue. The phone supports dual band 900/1800 MHz. The phone sports a 1.8" screen supporting up to 65k colors and a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. The phone has a large keypad and shortcut key to switch between two SIM cards. Other features include calendar, clock, and FM radio (headset required).

Nokia on August 23, 2010, announced to have entered into a partnership with Reliance Communication to popularize its mobile data services in India.

Under the partnership, Nokia Ovi Life Tools will become available in rural and semi-urban areas where Reliance has its presence. Services offered under Ovi Life Tool includes agriculture, education and entertainment – such as market prices, agricultural tips, and the weather forecast.

Nokia will also introduce Ovi Music Unlimited devices and exclusive offers and data cards and USB dongles with the purchase of Nokia music phones. It will also offer special data packages for different Nokia GPRS phones.
