Rohan Murthy and Lakshmi Venu got engaged : A marriage of two business families in India

Rohan Murthy, son of N. R. Narayana Murthy, founder of Infosys Technologies, got engaged to Lakshmi Venu, daughter of TVS Motor Co. Chairman and Managing Director, Venu Srinivasan. The engagement took place last week. The engagement news created a big splash in the media because both the families are renowned families in the Indian Corporate world.

Narayana Murthy is very happy over the engagement, he told reporters, "Both I and Sudha are very happy about Rohan and Lakshmi's decision to come together. Knowing that both are very smart people, they will make the most of it." However, Mr. Murthy did not disclose marriage date.

27 year old Rohan Murthy is a Microsoft fellow, pursuing his PhD in Computer Science from Harvard University. He studied in Bishop Cotton Boys’ school in Bangalore. He did his graduation in engineering from Cornell University.

On the other hand, 27 year old Lakshmi Venu received her degree in Economics from Yale University. She did her PhD in manufacturing management from Warwick University in the UK.

In late March 2010, Lakshmi Venu joined the board of Sundaram Clayton Limited, a subsidiary of TVS Group. For the next five years, she is looking after business strategy, corporate affairs, product design and sales and marketing.
