Dimpy: A former model becomes a wife

Dimpy Ganguly is talk of the Bollywood town now. The twenty one year old model won the NDTV reality show, “Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega,” and became the bride of Rahul Mahajan, son of famous BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan. The couple got married on March 6, 2010. Now, the media started to dig into her past.

Hindustan Times City found out some pictures of Dimpy Ganguly alias Soumasri which showed the she was posing in front of the camera wearing a bikini. The tabloid also reported that she did a Bengali movie titled Hello Memsaheb where she did some bold scenes and an item number which was similar to Mallika Sherawat’s Maiyya Maiyya song from Guru.

Dimpy Mahajan was one of the former contestants of Gladrags Megamodel Manhunt 2009. She also stood second runners up in a beauty contest “Sananda Tilottama” in 2007. The contest was held for Eastern region of India in Kolkata. According to a make-up artiste, Dimpy was quite a “bindaas babe.” She had no apprehensions about revealing her body in front of the camera. She was ready to do anything the director wanted him to do. In “Sananda Tilottama,” she came to the Aqua club wearing a casual dress. She then took it off and revealed her bikini and jumped into the pool in front of the people. Dimpy is also a party animal.

Another make-up artiste, Aniruddha Chakladar said that Dimpy had been a very professional actress and he recommended her to several movie makers. She had been a very easy person to work with and had a very mobile face. Aniruddha said that she enjoyed working with her.

Dimpy Mahajan also appeared in “Uthoshober Ratri,” a mega-serial of Zee Bangla. Jishu Dasgupta, director of “Uthoshober Ratri” spoke very highly of her. He said that Dimpy had every thing it takes to become an actor. She had been very ambitious and career oriented. Jishu first saw her on a hoarding in Kolkata and asked her to come and give an audition and she made it in the very first audition. From the very first day, Jishu knew that Dimpy would become a very popular actor. He approached her for another show he was directing. He hopes that Dimpy would be able to work with him even after her marriage with Rahul Mahajan.

Dimpy Mahajan also worked as an anchor in Dashavatar TV programme of Rupasi Bangla. Dimpy Mahajan was always very interested to have a career in movies. She had no apprehensions doing any role and she was very open minded.

Previously, Dimpy was linked to Neel Shah but she dated lots of men and never had a steady boyfriend.

Hello Memsaheb comes to haunt Dimpy Mahajan

Dimpy Ganguly aka Dimpy Mahajan is now in trouble. After marrying Rahul Mahajan, the son of former senior BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan, news started to surface that Dimpy Ganguly did some bold scenes and item number in a Kolkata movie titled Hello Memsaheb.

Hello Memsaheb also stars popular Bengali actor, Jeet, and Priyanka Trivedi (Hatath Brishti). Arijit Biswas, producer of Hello Memsaheb, told reporters that Dimpy Ganguly had a bold and go-getter attitude and she was very free in front of the camera. Her “camera-friendly” nature took her to place. In Hello Memsaheb, Dimpy Ganguly did some bold scenes and hot item number which was similar to Mallika Sherawat's Maiyya Maiyya track from Guru. However, Rahul Mahajan, Dimpy’s husband said, he knew about Dimpy’s past:

“All these big stars who sport bikinis or kiss on screen are paid in crores, and get called classy. I don’t see any reason to make a hue and cry about Dimpy’s bikini shoots,”

Rahul Mahajan also said that Dimpy Ganguly had told her everything about her past and it is behind her now. He would not like people raising questions about his wife. People should respect her as Mrs. Mahajan now. Rahul said that he knew who she was and he is proud of her.

On March 6, 2010, Rahul Mahajan, son of former BJP leader, Pramod Mahajan, exchanged wedding vows with Dimpy Ganguly, after winning the reality show “Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.” The show, similar to the concept of “The Bachelor,” was broadcast by NDTV. A total of 16,500 women sent their applications to become Rahul Mahajan’s bride. Out of this applicants, seventeen women had been chosen and Dimpy Ganguly beat all of them and became Rahul Mahajan’s bride. The wedding ceremony took place at the Leela Kempinski Hotel which was attended by several celebrities.
