Being Human Salman Khan: Philanthropy or Publicity Stunt?

I know that Salman Khan has many passionate fans and I would not get shocked if some of them show some angry reactions to this entry of mine. Anyway, it seems that Salman Khan has decided to become active in charity works with his NGO Being Human. The basic idea is that he will use his star power sell Tshirts and other products to raise money and then the money will be donated to poor people. This is a good initiative from a Bollywood hero and it will surely help some poor people.

Salman Khan said to a media:

"Being Human raises funds via the sale of its T-shirts, which are exclusively designed. After T-shirts, Being Human will now be expanding its product offerings by making watches. Watches are a great accessory and both genders love flaunting their watches. It has become a style statement. So keeping that in mind, my foundation will be making watches, which can be sold to make some money."

Very nice. Now, what I feel is that Salman Khan should focus more on changing himself and remove the bad boy image and this can help people more. In the last two decades, he has come to media spotlight for his acting as well as controversies surrounding his personal life. If really he wants to help people then he should remember that he is like a role model to many young men. He should reform himself and make a good boy (man) image for himself and this would inspire many young men. That is why, I think that Being Human will be in the end a publicity stunt instead of generous charity work.

  1. I would say generally to bring a change one should not have to change themself. His approach is to bring such positive action in everyday being's life meaning any one should be able to do this not just him.
Salman is what he is, he came to suchconclusion because of his personality then why would you want to change that? Would that not be superficial. Trying to be somone you are not. Well good approach in article though! media somtime should have a huministic perspective...

  2. this is a very poor 'article', if it can be called that! Your article does not have valid point in it to judge and conclude that Being Human is a 'publicity stunt'. Why would he bother to change his 'bad boy' image when this tagline has been given to him by the media? And besides, his philantrophic work, in itself is inspiring for these young men to go out there and extend a helping hand to people who need help.

  3. whoever wrote this article is an idiot...i didn't like Salman until i recently met him at his being human foundation dance in Pune. that man is being targeted by idiotic media personnel who have nothing better to do. And due to that reason, idiots like you believe he is a "bad boy." lets recap to how many actors/directors he helped before they entered into bollywood. Hrithik Roshan (Kaho Na Pyaar Hai), Abhiskek Bachchan (Refugee), Imran Khan (Jaane tu ya jaane na), ranbir kapoor (saawariya), Sanjay Leela Bhansali (Khamoshi)...this list goes on and on. how many times has media EVER recognized salman for giving a 'break' to these guys... dont believe the media, they are just trying to fool you into thinking otherwise. did you know amitabh bachchan has killed 2 people in his lifetime. TWO PEOPLE!!!!! and he didnt go to jail nor did anyone hear about it. salman kills a deer and they throw him in jail...whatever, salman haters will never understand so go screw yourself
