Pakistan: Mobile Phone is Making Radio Popular

In South Asia, most people have this idea that radio is for poor people and television for well off people and mobile phone is not for poor people. Well, it seems to me that radio stations are making a comeback in Pakistan not with radio sets but with mobile phone handsets. In Pakistan, cricket is very popular and that is why, many people prefer to have handsets with FM radio facility. As a result, when there is a cricket match involving Pakistani national team, many people love to listen to the commentary by their mobile phone sets.

Pakistan is poised to have 100 million subscribers in the next few months.
