Amitabh Bachchan is going to host the Bigg Boss on Colors Hindi entertainment channel

After four years, Amitabh Bachchan is returning to television. Big B is now going to host TV reality show, Bigg Boss, on Hindi entertainment channel, Colours. Recently, Amitabh Bachchan gave an interview to Hindustan Times where he talked about hosting the TV reality show. Here is an excerpt of the interview:

What did your family have to say about your decision to be part of this show?

Well, all of them gave their inputs. We do discuss things over the dining table. But they’re happy if I’m happy. And I’m happy.

How much are you getting paid for Bigg Boss?

That’s confidential.

Amitabh Bachchan first appeared in television in 2000 with the reality game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. The show went on to become one of the most successful television shows till date. In 2005, Big B returned to host the show for the second time but he was not so successful this time. Still, Amitabh Bachchan is a living legend in the Indian entertainment industry. Kaun Banega Crorepati was a very decent show. It was an out and out family entertainer where Big B was a sympathetic host but Bigg Boss is the total opposite. It is a “voyeuristic and controversial show.” In this show, Mr. Bachchan will play the role of a philosopher who would give some good advice to a bunch of dysfunctional housemates. Colors aired the show in July 2008. It became very popular but it was very obscene and vulgar and many viewers complained about it. Talking about his reason behind hosting the show Mr. Bachchan said that he had found the idea intriguing. There are many shows that are frivolous but it takes time to make such frivolous shows. A qualified psychologist was appointed while making the show, Kaun Banega Crorepati. In the same way, when people are locked inside a space for eighty four days without any outside contact they start to behave differently. What is the reason behind such change and why do they do it?
