Big Cinemas will have 100 screens in the next one year

Big Cinemas, one of the biggest cinema chains in India, announced to add one hundred new screens in the next one year. On September 4, 2009, Adlabs Films, which owns and operates Big Cinemas, made the announcement. Anil Arjun, CEO, Adlabs Films said:

"We are planning to add around 100 more screens in the next one year across India and abroad. We will also expand our studio facilities among other things,"

Big Cinemas is one of the largest cinema chains in India. It has 457 screens in India, the U.S, Malaysia and the Netherlands. Founded in 2001, it is one of the leading movie exhibition organizations in India with 209 theatres accounting for 10-15% of the box office collection.


Adlabs also announced that it is going to change its name to Reliance Media Works Ltd. as the new name portrays it as a “diversified global film and media services company.” The company is planning to raise Rs.600 crore for expanding its business and is currently waiting for regulatory approvals. Adlabs Films Ltd. is a subsidiary of Reliance ADA Group. It was acquired in 2005. Since then the company’s revenue observed a major growth.
