Fred Honsberger Death: Eternal Silence after 3 Decades of Voice

Fred Honsberger died earlier today. He was not exactly a very famous personal nationally and globally but in the city of Pittsburgh, he meant a lot to the people. Fred Honsberger used to talk about politics in KDKA Radio and when you are a commentator of politics naturally you have many allies and enemies. Today, his supporters and opponents are united in their mourning over his death. People from all walks of life came to see his dead body. Fred Honsberger died at the age of 58.
KDKA Radio stated:
Veteran KDKA Radio personality Fred Honsberger passed away this morning at his home in Monroeville. He was 58.
Honsberger had hosted afternoons on the station (weekdays, 12:00Noon-3:00PM, ET) since Jan. 5, 2009. His last show was on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
“The NEWSRADIO 1020 KDKA family is deeply saddened to learn that Fred has passed away,” said Michael Young, Senior Vice President and Market Manager, CBS RADIO Pittsburgh. “Fred truly loved the Pittsburgh area, the KDKA listeners and his colleagues at the station. His immense passion and the enjoyment and pride he took in preparing and producing his shows will be greatly missed. Fred’s family has the station’s deepest sympathies during this difficult period.”

May his soul rest in peace. Earlier today, Roy Disney also died.

  1. I'll miss you Fred,You were the best.As I traveled too and from Cleveland to work The last 12 years,I always knew I was home when I finally heard your voice on KDKA radio and you entertained me while driving on the PA turnpike back to Pittsburgh.God Bless You and Your Family
