The Mahatma Gandhi University was established on October 2, 1983 as the fifth university in the state of Kerala in India. It has B+ accreditation of National Assessment and Accreditation Council. The university has 250 courses in graduate, post graduate and M.Phil/Ph.D. programmes. The University has a huge campus located in Athirampuzha. This is the main campus. The university has eight satellite campuses located at Pullarikunnu, Soorya Kalady Hills, Nattasserry, Puthuppally, Gandhinagar, and Cheruvandoor in Kottayam, Thodupuzha and Nedumkandam in Idukki district, and chuttippara in Pathanamthitta district. Every year, the university enrolls 1,50,000 students.
