Navratri 2010: Celebrate the festival with your loved ones

Navratri is a Hindu festival where people worship and dance started for March 15, 2010 and would continue till March 24, 2010. In Sanskrit, the word “Nava” means nine and “ratri” means nights. During these nine nights and ten days, nine form of goddesses are worshipped. The beginning of spring and the beginning of autumn are two very important times. During these two periods the Hindus worship the Divine Mother. The dates of the festival are determined according to the lunar calendar.

The Hindus believe in one Deity who is omnipresent but they worship the numerous manifestations of that deity. During the Navaratri represents the celebration fo Goddess Durga, the manifestation of Deity in the form of Shakti.
