Tamil comedy actor Goundamani dead: No confirmation yet

Rumor of the death of famous Tamil comedy actor, Goundamani, is creating buzz over the Internet. News reports could not confirm his death. Bollywood web-portal, India glitz, reported that the actor had been admitted to Apollo hospital in Chennai after suffering a chest pain on March 15, 2010. People close to the actor said that he was complaining about uneasiness in breathing and chest pain. He was then taken from his residence in Teynampet to the hospital where a special team of doctors overlooked his physical condition. Doctors said that he has been doing well and will be discharged soon. After the news of his illness came out, friends and well wishers of Goundamani rushed to the hospital.


On the contrary, there were messages posted on Twitter and on discussion forums which said that the actor was dead. Someone also wrote about his death on March 18, 2010, on his Wikipedia page which had been removed later.


Noted Tamil comedy actor, Goundamani, was born in Kannampalayam,a village in Coimbatore,Tamil Nadu. He started his acting career in theatres and then went into movies. He started acting in movies at the age of twenty six. Later, he was paired up with another actor named Senthil and they formed a comedy duo and became immensely successful. Known as Laurel and Hardy of Kollywood, Goundamani and Senthil have been entertaining people for more than twenty years. In his illustrious acting career, Goundamani did more than three hundred movies and worked with famous South Indian actors such as Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
