The West Bengal University of Technology commonly known as WBUT or UTech is a public state university located in Salt Lake City, Kolkata, West Bengal. The university offers courses on science, technology, and management. The university was established on August 5, 2000. The Government of West Bengal initially provided money to set up the university. The government wanted to turn in into a “Center for Excellence.” The West Bengal University of Technology offers various advanced level courses through its affiliated institutions. It has been accorded the affiliating University status with it jurisdiction encompassing the whole of West Bengal.
