Ambedkar Jayanti 2010: Remembering a Great man

Ambedkar Jayanti 2010 is going to be celebrated in all over India on 14 April.

Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was a great man. Yes, he was a controversial figure during his life time because of his uncompressing stands on the rights of Dalit people. He fought against untouchablity and Hindu caste system and towards the end of his life converted to Buddhism. He is still a very respectable figure among the Dalit community and that is why, some political parties want to make the best out of his name.

I personally do not agree with all ideas of Ambedkar but there is no doubt in my mind that he was a great leader for his people. The bad luck for the Dalit people in India is that after Ambedkar, no leader of his caliber rose among them. So, things are still not good for these people.

The followers of Ambedkar in Ambedkar Jayanti 2010 should try to understand that Mr. Ambedkar became successful with education and hard work. They must do the same thing and become successful in life and in society.
