A popular WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) site, 160by2 has increased its SMS world limit to 145 characters for its free SMS service. At 160by2, users can send free SMS to a number of countries including Saudi Arab, Singapore, India, Kuwait, Philippines, Malaysia and UAE.

However, to send free SMS to your desired phone number, you have to first register at 160by2 website. For registration, users need to give their username, email ID, password, country code, mobile number, gender and date of birth. Then users can send SMS after logging on to their accounts.

The good part of the service is that the recipient of the SMS would see user’s mobile number as SMS sender. So, 160by2 users can feel like they are sending SMS from their mobile phone.

Earlier, the maximum word limit for SMS was 80 which has now been increased to 145 words. So, users can send longer SMS from now using the 160by2 SMS service.

Address of the Official website of 160by2 is: http://www.160by2.com/

Moreover, the website also provides a mobile application with which you can have access to the inbox, outbox and phone book of your mobile phone. You can even have a back up of your mobile’s phone book at 160by2 website.

However, for these additional services, you must have a Symbian based mobile phone with at least S60 3rd edition.

  1. Interesting, causes 80 should be a standard for non-English sms. Perhaps 145 is only for pure english characters
