Badmaash Company rocks the box office

It looks like debutant director, Parmeet Sethi, scored a hattrick in his first venture. Badmaash Company, which was released in theatres of May 7, 2010, did very well at the box office.

Though it had a tough competition with Housefull, another high profile movie that released in previous week, it came out as a winner collecting Rs. 130 million in the opening weekend all over India. The good thing is, in the next two weeks, there will be no major movies. So, Badmaash Company would not have to face too much competition.

This is very good news for Shahid Kapoor. Post Kaminey, all the three films of the actor- Dil Bole Hadippa!, Chance Pe Dance, and Paathshala, tanked at the box office. Prakhar Joshi, Programming Head, PVR Cinemas, said:

"As compared to last week, the occupancy of Housefull has gone down. The occupancy over this weekend was around 40% and the movie saw net collections of around Rs 90 lakhs across our properties. Badmaash Company has done well over the weekend with around 60 -65% occupancy and around Rs 1.5 crores net collections. ………”

Badmaash Company stars Shahid Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Meiyang Chang and Vir Das. Set in the 90s India, the movie tells the story of four friends who wanted to make it big within a short time by devising a brilliant con idea.
