Vodafone Essar VF150 price and features in India

On May 6, 2010, Vodafone launched world’s cheapest phone, Vodafone Essar VF150, in India. In news reports the price of the phone was written Rs.799 or Rs.809. I checked Vodafone official website where it is priced Rs.859. Obviously, it is a low-end phone and Vodafone launched it for the Indian rural market. In the next few days, Vodafone Essar VF 150 will be launched in various parts of India.

Sanjay Warke, CEO, Vodafone Essar said, "The cost of the handset can be a significant barrier for people in accessing and benefiting from the mobile revolution. At the price point of VF 150, many more people will become part of the connected world,"

The rural India is a big market with more than one billion customers but it is somewhat untapped as price of mobile phones is a major obstacle for the low income people.
