The West Bengal University of Technology (WBUTech) was established on August 5, 2000. It started functioning on January 15, 2001. The university was established under the West Bengal Act XV of 2000. WBUT functions through an Advisory Committee constituted by the Chancellor. The Government of West Bengal provided money for the development of the university.
