England vs Mexico Friendly 2010: English Fans Expecting Dominating Start in World Cup Preparation

England faces Mexico in an international friendly match on Monday at the Wembley stadium. This is going to be England’s first match after they started their world cup preparation following the announcement of 30-man provisional squad for world cup 2010.

Under the observation of coach Fabio Capello, England team is now busy with their altitude preparation in Austria. English fans are excited with the Mexico match as it is going to be England’s last home match before they head to South Africa.

England won their first and only world cup title way back in 1966. So, English fans have been craving for another world cup title for a long time now. English teams agonizingly failed to replicate their 1966 triumph in the previous tournaments. However, there are many who believe that the current England tram has what it takes to create another success story in world cup.

Fans are expecting England to make a good start to their world cup preparation displaying a dominating performance against Mexico. They would like to see the start of the success story at the Wembley.

Meanwhile, Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher fears a hostile reception by the English fans on Monday. In a surprising move, Capello named Carragher, who had retired from international football 3 years back, in the preliminary world cup squad, but the player is aware of the fact that he could be booed by the fans in the match against Mexico.

Carragher has made some controversial comments in his biography revealing that losing with Liverpool is more aching than losing with England. The player, however, said that a hostile reception would not affect his game. Capello asked the fans not to come down hard on the veteran defender.

The Mexico game would hand Capello a good chance to have a look at his squad which he needs to reduce to 23 by June 1 as per the FIFA ruling. England has another friendly match against Japan on 30 May, before Capello announces his final 23-man squad.
