Sonam Kapoor Starrer Aisha Could be Screened at IIFA in Sri Lanka

Anil Kapoor’s home production ‘Aisha’ could be premiered at the upcoming IIFA Award ceremony in Sri Lanka. An adaptation of Jane Austen’s classic novel Emma, the movie deals with class division and features Sonam Kapoor as Aisha and Abhay Deol as Arjun.

Producer Anil Kapoor said that he was planning to premiere the movie at this year’s IIFA award next month. However, the veteran actor-turned-producer admitted they are running against time.

Set in Delhi, the story revolves around a young girl named Aisha. The movie casts satire on the society where marriage is seen as a means of uplifting one’s social status.

The character Aisha is very strong which director Rajshree Ojha believes Sonam Kapoor has successfully portrayed. Abhay Deol in the role of Arjun depicts a character like Emma’s Mr. Knightley. Ojha is happy with the performance of the lead actors in the movie.

For Sonam Kapoor, ‘Aisha’ could be a big breakthrough considering that the role she plays in the movie is a very strong one where she has every opportunity to show her acting talent.

Before ‘Aisha’, Sonam Kapoor’s another movie ‘I Hate Luv Storys’ opposite Imran Khan will hit the screen. So far, she has acted in two Bollywood movies: Saawariya and Delhi-6. ‘Aisha’ is slated for release on 6 August 2010.
